MEET Caprial Leung (She/Her)
Hey there!
My name is Caprial (pronounced kuh-pree-ul), and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I am passionate about creating a safe, affirming, and culturally responsive space for healing—one where your experiences are honoured and met with care and understanding.
When I'm not in session, I often find myself exploring new dessert, ice cream, or bubble tea shops. I also love to unwind by watching the latest Disney movies while cuddling with my furbabies or revisiting the comforting humour of The Simpsons. I understand how important it is to find those small moments of happiness amidst life's challenges.
I am a second-generation Hong Kong settler, born and raised on the sacred, stolen, and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. As the daughter of low-income immigrants, I understand the challenges of navigating bicultural expectations, systemic barriers, and the emotional weight of being the "strong one" in the family. Growing up, I rarely saw BIPOC representation in the mental health field, which makes it even more meaningful for me today to serve as a woman of colour counsellor.
I have always been drawn to roles that center on supporting others, and my journey in the helping profession has spanned over nine years. I have extensive experience working with children with disabilities, co-parenting families, single-parent households, and family members of neurodivergent children. My work has also brought me to the Downtown Eastside (DTES), where I have supported individuals navigating complex life challenges. Advocacy and social justice are at the heart of my approach, and I am committed to creating a space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued.
I enjoy offering trauma-informed care for adults who are navigating bicultural expectations, identity struggles, and trust wounds, particularly those shaped by intergenerational trauma and systemic oppression. I am passionate about supporting children and their caregivers in fostering strong, healthy relationships and developing effective coping strategies. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where children and caregivers feel heard, understood, and empowered. Working individually and collaboratively, I help families navigate challenges, strengthen communication, and build resilience.
I use an integrative, client-centred approach rooted in trauma-informed and social justice-oriented care. Drawing from Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I tailor sessions to meet your unique needs. Therapy with me is not about "fixing" yourself—it's about reclaiming your story and stepping into a space of self-compassion and agency.
Looking forward to connecting with you
