Hey there!

My name is Caprial (pronounced kuh-pree-ul), and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I am passionate about creating a safe, affirming, and culturally responsive space for healing—one where your experiences are honoured and met with care and understanding.

When I'm not in session, I often find myself exploring new dessert, ice cream, or bubble tea shops. I also love to unwind by watching the latest Disney movies while cuddling with my furbabies or revisiting the comforting humour of The Simpsons. I understand how important it is to find those small moments of happiness amidst life's challenges.

Biography: I am a second-generation Hong Kong settler, born and raised on the sacred, stolen, and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. As the daughter of low-income immigrants, I understand the challenges of navigating bicultural expectations, systemic barriers, and the emotional weight of being the "strong one" in the family. Growing up, I rarely saw BIPOC representation in the mental health field, which makes it even more meaningful for me today to serve as a woman of colour counsellor.

I have always been drawn to roles that center on supporting others, and my journey in the helping profession has spanned over nine years. I have extensive experience working with children with disabilities, co-parenting families, single-parent households, and family members of neurodivergent children. My work has also brought me to the Downtown Eastside (DTES), where I have supported individuals navigating complex life challenges. Advocacy and social justice are at the heart of my approach, and I am committed to creating a space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued.

I enjoy offering trauma-informed care for adults who are navigating bicultural expectations, identity struggles, and trust wounds, particularly those shaped by intergenerational trauma and systemic oppression. I am passionate about supporting children and their caregivers in fostering strong, healthy relationships and developing effective coping strategies. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where children and caregivers feel heard, understood, and empowered. Working individually and collaboratively, I help families navigate challenges, strengthen communication, and build resilience.

Counselling Approaches & Modalities:

I use an integrative, client-centred approach grounded in trauma-informed and social-justice–oriented care. Drawing from Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other evidence-informed modalities, I tailor each session to meet your unique needs and circumstances.

I have extensive experience working with children and youth, and I love making therapy engaging and accessible. You’ll often find art supplies, games, and creative tools ready to go—because play can be one of the most natural and powerful ways for kids to explore feelings, build skills, and feel safe.

I am currently completing EMDR training, which allows me to incorporate body-based, experiential, and trauma-processing approaches when they’re a good fit.

Therapy with me isn’t about “fixing” yourself—it’s about reclaiming your story, honouring your lived experience, and stepping into a space of self-compassion
