MEET Abinash (Abby) Sidhu (She/Her)
Hello! My name is Abinash but I also go by Abby;
I’m a licensed psychotherapist and registered social worker with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW), supporting adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, low self-worth, and emotional dysregulation. As a first-generation Canadian and the eldest daughter of immigrant parents from a South Asian background, I understand the layered experience of living between cultures. I speak Punjabi and Hindi fluently, and I bring cultural humility and care into every session. I know what it’s like to navigate the in-between—to carry deep love for your roots while also trying to find your own path.
My goal is to support you in exploring those complexities with compassion, curiosity, and without judgment.
Whether you're working through past pain, standing at the edge of change, or simply seeking to feel more at home in yourself, I’m here to walk alongside you. Healing can take many forms, and however it unfolds for you, I’m honoured to be part of that journey.
As your therapist, I come into our work with deep respect for your story, your strength, and your lived experiences, wherever they have taken you. I hold space through a trauma-informed, relational, and culturally grounded lens, knowing that healing is not one-size-fits-all. Our relationship will be rooted in openness, honesty, and mutual trust. My hope is to co-create a space where you feel safe to show up fully, explore your inner world, and reconnect with your own voice and wisdom.
With over eight years of experience in the mental health field, I support adults as they move through the many seasons of life, whether that involves shifting roles, relationships, or identities. I also hold space for the emotional weight that often accompanies these changes, including anxiety, low self-worth, and emotional overwhelm. My approach is client-centred and rooted in an intersectional framework, meaning I honour the unique mix of identities, histories, and systems that shape who you are. In our work together, I offer a thoughtful blend of gentle reflection and practical tools, drawing from DBT, CBT, EFFT, Internal Family Systems, and somatic practices—always at a pace that feels right for you.
Outside of session, you’ll often find me reconnecting with my four-year-old dog (and sidekick), Leo—wandering along sandy beaches and soaking in the fresh air we are so privileged to breathe. These quiet moments of presence help me recharge and reflect, allowing me to return to our work with intention and care. They also remind me of the power of stillness, regulation, and connection—values I bring into every session we share.
