MEET Shameela (She/Her)

Hello! My name is Shameela (she/her). I am a Registered Social Worker with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW) and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) at Solidarity Therapy.

My identities as a racialized woman have deeply informed my practice. I am acutely aware of the systemic oppressions and traumas that are enforced on BIPOC bodies, and bring this awareness and my lived experiences into my work. I recognize that we do not exist in silos and are deeply connected to everything and everyone around us.

Accepting New Clients

In-Person & Virtual

Availability:

Thursday Afternoon - Evening

When I work with you on your therapeutic journey, I use a holistic approach. Most importantly, we create goals together and you take the lead on where you wish to go. You are the writer of your story and I am merely walking alongside you on this journey.

I work from a client-centred, anti-oppressive, anti-racist, feminist, and trauma-informed lens when working with you. I am also interested in arts-based approaches to support my clients, with a focus on writing as a form of healing.

I support clients with anxiety, depression, gender identity, trauma, grief or loss, intergenerational trauma and conflict, gender-based violence and navigating LGBTQ+ experiences.

I look forward to working with you to create a therapeutic space that is built upon trust, respect and safety.

I am now accepting new clients and direct billing for extended benefits (depending on provider) is available for my clients.
