MEET KAMALPREET (She/Her)

Hello and Welcome! My name is Kamalpreet and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) at Solidarity Therapy.

I work from an eclectic, strength-based, client-empowering perspective and my practice integrates DBT, Solution-Focused therapy, client-centered therapy, narrative therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches. With regard to trauma work, I tend to combine elements from various counselling approaches including DBT, mindfulness-based somatic therapy, EMDR, and
TF-CBT. I also feel drawn to the work of Gabor Mate and Bessel van der Kolk.

My self care practices include morning meditation, long walks in nature, listening to soothing music, and reading.

Although there has been a tremendous (positive) shift in the last decade in the way people view counselling in terms of public stigma, nevertheless, it can still be very challenging for some individuals to overcome the self-stigma associated with seeking psychological help. Sharing your personal experiences, stories, and struggles can be difficult and it takes courage to seek help. I truly believe that all individuals are the experts of their own experiences and that they possess the resources and capabilities to resolve their problems, however, one might feel stuck sometimes and talking to a professional can help people make the most informed and healthy choices for themselves.

My therapeutic style encompasses creating a safe therapeutic environment for the client, promoting client empowerment, providing them external resources and helping them access their inner resources. Having lived and worked in three different countries, I appreciate and value cultural diversity and hence, intend to take clients’ cultural values, contextual factors and their
unique therapeutic needs into account when providing counselling. I provide counselling services in multiple languages including English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Dutch.

I invite you to book a 20-min video/phone consultation and I will be glad to provide you more
information about our services and answer any questions you may have.
