MEET Gurpreet (She/Her)
Hello and welcome!
My name is Gurpreet, my pronouns are she/her.
I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
In my spare time I enjoy going to the beach and reading.
As your counsellor, I aim to create and foster a safe and supportive environment for you as we work through your mental health journey together. I take a person-centered and inclusive approach to counselling, meaning that you are the expert of your life and know yourself best. I am here to collaborate with you towards healing and growing to meet your unique set of needs, wants, and goals in and outside of the counselling space, drawing from your inner strengths along the way.
I also like to integrate other counselling theories and techniques in my work, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Mindfulness. I also take anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive approaches, respecting where you come from and where you would like to be, accounting for the various parts that make you who you are. I enjoy working with youth and adults, inclusive of all genders, as well as individuals, couples, and families. Whatever it is that you need, I am here to help and support you.
